Because every child deserves to feel seen, and no parent should feel alone
When my eldest son, who is autistic, joined our local football club, everything changed. He found confidence, purpose, and a place where he truly belonged. Through him, our whole family discovered connection, belonging, and a shared passion.
I started coaching, my younger son became a referee, and my husband was running the line every week. Last season, something truly special happened — my eldest began coaching alongside me, helping lead his younger sister’s U13 girls’ team. It was a full-circle moment I’ll always treasure.
My husband and I are proud founding members of Fulham’s Disability Association. I also introduced the sunflower lanyard scheme to the club, helping raise awareness and support for those with hidden disabilities.
But our journey hasn’t always been easy. When my eldest was in Reception, I often felt isolated. My experience didn’t match other parents’, and that loneliness stayed with me.
That’s why I’m passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces where every child — and every parent — feels supported. Not every child fits the traditional academic mould, and that’s okay. A happy child makes for a happier home. And as parents, we’re only ever as happy as our unhappiest child.
Now, as Club Welfare Officer and Neurodivergent Champion, I’m committed to ensuring every child has the chance to thrive — just like my son did.
Football was our game changer. What’s going to be yours?
